"The referee found it necessary to repeatedly warn Robinson during the six rounds that the bout lasted to cease clinching, and in the sixth issued a warning in more vehement terms than its predecessors. Robinson then went to the canvas without being hit, but arose when Referee Marsh refused to count over him. It was not many seconds before the colored boxer placed his chin in the path of a light and glancing blow and went down again. The referee refused to count and Robinson refused to box, so the bout came to an end. The Ontario Athletic Commission has ordered the promoters to withhold Robinson's purse until they decide what shall be done with it." - Globe & Mail
