Gaspar Ortega 149 lbs lost to Brian Curvis 146 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1965-02-23
- Location: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, London, United Kingdom
- Referee: Bill Williams
"British and Empire welterweight champion Brian Curvis used a jabbing attack last night to outpoint Gaspar Ortega of Mexico over 10 dull rounds at the Royal Albert Hall which had the fans stamping their feet in disapproval. There were no knockdowns during the contest but the Welshman finished with a slight cut above his right eyebrow. Ortega left the ring unmarked and to boos. Curvis dictated the bout from the opening bell, but Ortega's bobbing and weaving did not make for a spectacular fight. The southpaw Curvis connected with some solid right leads but he found it hard to nail his opponent who ducked low and laid on at the slightest sign of danger." -United Press International
- Unofficial UPI scorecard - 7-0-3 Curvis
