"Unbeaten welterweight Hedgemon Lewis used a lightning left jab and a sweeping right hook Thursday night and won an easy two-round knockout over Doug McCloud in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Olympic Auditorium. McCloud took a number of hard punches to the right eye in the 1st round and after the first few seconds of the 2nd, the eye was swollen shut. Dr. Bernard Schwartz, the ring physician, was summoned and said McCloud would not be allowed to continue. Referee Abe Cohen stopped the fight after 1:00 of the 2nd." -Associated Press
