"Walter Neusel of Germany tonight smashed into the heavyweight throne room by pounding out a 10 round decision over Tommy Loughran of Philadelphia before 12,000 fans at MSG. Although the judges disagreed, referee Arthur Donovan awarded the bout to the German. Neusel battered Tommy about the ring with long right and left hooks to head and body, despite Loughran's constant tying up and holding tactics. It was one of the few times in Loughran's many appearances in New York that he was booed in almost every round for his unethical methods. Tommy rallied in the 9th and had the German's head bobbing with a barrage of uppercuts. Neusel came back impressively in the 10th and was smashing away at his smaller opponent at the final bell." -United Press
