Bo Hogberg beat Gil Diaz by KO at 1:09 in round 2 of 10
- Date: 1967-02-26
- Location: Baltiska Hallen, Malmo, Sweden
- Referee: Bengt Almqvist
In the southern town of Malmö, Sweden, proboxing appeared for a second time since 1946. Former European light middleweight champion Bo Hogberg faced Gil Diaz, a stocky hard hitting New Yorker with a 16-15-3 record, fighting since 1960. Both men jabbed in the first round, Diaz sometimes trying for a KO with predictable wild swings. In the second Hogberg took advantage of Diaz' wild attacks. A missing swing made the American lose his balance, and Hogberg shook him with a left hook. A follow up right dropped Diaz. He got up, Hogberg punched to the body with uppercuts followed by a right and a left to the head which made Diaz sag against the ropes. Hogberg went in with a right- left combination. The referee started a count. By this time Diaz' head was resting on the lower ring rope. Diaz rose, but had no idea where he was as he started to walk to one of the empty corners in the ring.
