Jimmy McLarnin 146 lbs beat Sammy Fuller 136 lbs by KO at 2:58 in round 8 of 10
- Date: 1932-12-16
- Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York, USA
- Referee: Pete Hartley
- Judge: George Kelly
- Judge: Marty Monroe
"Sammy Fuller, 136, a tough lightweight scrapper from Boston was outclassed Friday night by Jimmy McLarnin, 145 1/2, of Vancouver and knocked out in the 8th round of a 10-round match. McLarnin displayed plenty of hitting power but he was slower and wilder than usual, missing so many punches at the bobbing head of Fuller that it was a bit drafty around ringside. Jimmy connected sufficiently to put Fuller down four times before referee Pete Hartley counted the final ten seconds in the 8th round only two seconds before the bell. McLarnin dropped Fuller in the 1st round for a nine-count, at the close of the 2nd round and twice in the 8th. McLarnin's left eye was puffy from Fuller's left jabbing but Sammy was outpointed throughout by a wide and monotonous margin." -Associated Press
