"Ray Lampkin, 139, Portland, stopped by the Sahara Tahoe Hotel Thursday night and passed the time as he waits for a title fight rematch with Roberto Duran by taking a 4th round TKO over Miguel Estrada, 137, Chihuahua, Mex. The victory Thursday was his third straight win by knockout since returning after the Duran fight. The bout ended after the 3rd round when referee Mills Lane called it off because of a cut over Estrada's left eye. Estrada, who had absorbed 15 rounds of a beating in the three rounds it lasted, looked beaten as he slumped in his corner. But Estrada managed to shake up Lampkin with a right in the opening minutes of the fight and Lampkin admitted the punch left him a little dazed. But Lampkin didn't stay dazed long and sent Estrada down with a straight right to the chin that round. Lampkin also opened the cut that stopped the bout late in the 1st round." -Reno Evening Gazette
