"Archie Moore, 173, of St. Louis, won a TKO victory over Jimmy Bivins, 183, of Cleveland,, in the 9th round of a 10 round fight last night before sweltering fans who saw the winner collapse and fall flat on his face after the decision was announced. The heat slowed both fighters but it was a hard-hitting scrap throughout. Bivins went to the floor in the 3rd while Moore dropped to one knee in the 6th claiming his eye was gouged, but referee Eddie Leonard ordered the fight to continue. Bivins, badly battered about the eyes, turned his back to Moore in the 9th, placed his hands on the ropes and bowed his head. Leonard declared the bout ended, with 10 seconds of the round remaining." -Associated Press
