"Jorge Ahumada, fighting outside his native Argentina for the first time, registered an impressive 8th round TKO over Hal "TNT" Carroll of Syracuse, N.Y., Monday night in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds in the Felt Forum. Ahumada opened a cut over the right eye of Carroll in the 5th round. Dr. Edwin Campbell examined the cut between rounds and allowed the fight to continue, but Ahumada kept battering away at the eye until referee Johnny Colan halted the fight at 1:57 of the 8th round. There were no knockdowns in the bout as Ahumada clearly outboxed his opponent." -United Press International
