After one year of thinking things over, Kristian Hoydahl of Norway came back with an impressive showing against the Irish veteran Des Rea (29 wins, 35 losses, 5 draws, in a 10 year career). Rea received a cut eyebrow in the 5th, and the towel came in from his corner when he was on a receiving end of Hoydahl's crisp combinations.
This was to be the red-headed Rea's last fight.
