Juste Fontaine 132 lbs beat Ted Christie 132 lbs by KO at 2:24 in round 1 of 10
- Date: 1944-08-22
- Location: Auditorium, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
- Referee: Julius Fidler
One punch chalked up Juste Fontaine's twentieth victory in 21 professional bouts at the Auditorium. The Milwaukee lightweight knocked out Ted Christie, veteran New Yorker, in 2 minutes 24 seconds of the first round.
Christie was the aggressor and had the round won by a clear margin when the two clinched with Fontaine's back against the ropes. Juste had not landed a punch up to that time. Christie backed away and started to dance. Both of his feet were off the floor when Juste's long right flashed out, caught him on the point of the chin and knocked him head over heels. As Referee Julius Fidler finished the 10 count, Christie tried to get up but his legs would not hold him.
