"Eddie Cotton, Seattle, pounded out a bloody 10 round decision over Rory Calhoun, White Plains, NY, Wednesday night. Cotton, known for his left hook, surprised Calhoun with a right. When the winner delivered it for the first time in the 1st round, he almost dropped Calhoun, but the New Yorker clinched and got through the round. Cotton had the best of it from then on, and the decision was unanimous. Sometimes though, he failed to follow up when he had Calhoun on wobbly legs. Cotton slammed Calhoun with a couple of right crosses in the 6th and opened a bloody cut on Calhoun's nose. For the rest of the bout, Cotton peppered the tender nose with left jabs." -Associated Press
