• The UPI produced two articles on this fight. One showing judge Nick Pope's score of 46-45 for Harada and another stating Pope's score was 46-46 even, for a majority win for Harada.
• Joe Koizumi, the Oriental reporter for Ring Magazine, stated that the scores were, referee Toyama and judge Tezaki scoring it 47-45 and 46-44 respectively for Harada, while judge Nick Pope scored it a draw 46-46 for a majority decision win for Harada.
• Hawkins was penalized a point in the 9th round for a butt.
