"Undefeated Danny 'Little Red' Lopez, 122, eyeing his 18th straight KO victory, got all he wanted from Cesar Ordonez, 122, Mexico City, before finally stopping his man on cuts at the end of seven thrilling rounds. Landing continuously with a looping right hand, Cesar even appeared to have a slight edge after the first four frames of action. From that point on, Danny got down to serious business, pinning his man on the ropes and unleashing vicious combinations. Oddly, Ordonez remained standing after several of these onslaughts, but it wasn't long before he bled from angry wounds above both eyes. 'Little Red's' non-stop attack caused the cuts to worsen in the rounds to come, prompting Cesar's corner to toss in the towel at the end of the 7th." -WORLD BOXING, September 1973 issue

- "I guess I got hit too much again. This guy was a tough nut to crack, but I have no excuses. I must be a sucker for a right hand." -Danny Lopez
