"A crowd estimated at 5,500 at the Olympic Auditorium, saw Danny 'Little Red' Lopez, of Alhambra, Calif., record his 33rd KO and improve his record to 35-3 after Jose Torres, Mexico, dropped him with a right to the jaw for a mandatory eight-count with 25 seconds left in the 2nd round in his first featherweight title defense. Lopez got up and had Torres on the floor once in the 3rd round and twice in the 4th before his opponent from Aranda, Mexico, was unable to answer the bell for the 8th round. It went into the books as a 7th round knockout." -United Press International
