- Date: 1959-12-10
- Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
- Referee: Frankie Van 95-97
- Judge: Joey Olmos 92-99
- Judge: Tommy Herman 95-95
"California lightweight champion Paulie Armstead of Los Angeles made it two in a row over Baby Vasquez, 135, of Mexico City last night when he took a 10-round majority decision in a somewhat uneventful bout at the Olympic Auditorium. Armstead, 136, who gleaned a close decision over Vasquez in April of last year in the same ring amid a near-riot, won much easier this time. However, judge Tommy Herman came up with a surprising even scorecard. He was overruled by referee Frankie Vann and judge Joey Olmos who scored for Armstead. The only knockdown occurred in the 7th round, although Vasquez dropped to his knees voluntarily after a stiff left jab closed one of his eyes. Armstead's chief weapons were stinging blows to the body." -Pasadena Independent
