"Joe Medel, Mexico City, scored a 7th round knockout over courageous but outclassed Ross Padilla, Stockton, Calif., Thursday night at Olympic Auditorium. Medel landed a thunderous right uppercut midway through the 7th that stunned Padilla. He followed with a barrage of punches and referee Frankie Van called a halt. Padilla was on his feet at the end but was bleeding from his mouth and appeared to be thoroughly beaten.
