Little Dado 112 lbs beat Jackie Jurich 110 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

Jurich was knocked down six times.

"Little Dado, 111 3/4, of Manila, recognized by the NBA as world's flyweight champion, successfully defended his title here last night by decisioning Jackie Jurich, 110 3/4, of San Jose, Calif., in a 10-round bout. Spectators saw the unbeaten Dado win the first eight rounds without difficulty. He floored the veteran Jurich six times and kept him in continual distress. In the 9th, however, Jurich cut Dado above the left eye and went on to win the round. The 10th was even by virtue of Jurich's steady tattoo on Dado's bad eye. But Dado clearly was the better fighter." -United Press

  • Although the report states Dado was unbeaten, he actually lost several fights early in his career in the Philippines before arriving in Hawaii in 1937.
  • The day before the fight Jurich was 3 lbs. over the 112 lb. limit and Dado was 2 lbs. over. Both fighters expressed confidence in making the weight, however.
  • This was the first world title fight held in the Hawaiian territory.
