Austrian heavyweight Kurt Schiegl had gone into retirement but was soon back with a hard fought 10 rounds win over the Luxembourg giant Werner Wiegand. Schiegl had to take an 8 count in the 5th. He pressed Wiegand hard in the last two rounds, but Schiegl's win was not well received by the crowd of 6000 in Wiener Eislaufverein.
