Chango Carmona vs. Renaldo Victoria
Chango Carmona 135 lbs beat Renaldo Victoria 136 lbs by KO in round 3 of 10
- Date: 1968-08-10
- Location: Arena Mexico, Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico
- Referee: Monzon
"There was a breakdown in communications between Mexico City and Pittsfield, but it is our sad duty to report belatedly that Renaldo Victoria, Pittsfield's New England lightweight and welterweight champion, no longer is unbeaten. He came to grief in the 3rd round of his scheduled 10-round bout Saturday, when Chango Carmona, the Mexican blockbuster, tagged him twice. According to Roger Sala, Victoria's manager, Victoria's fleetness of feet and hands gave him a big edge in the first two rounds. However, Carmona, a hard swinger, caught him twice in the 3rd round, and Victoria went down but not out. He managed to regain his balance by the count of eight, but was in no condition to continue. Sala said he himself didn't question the referee's ruling that the bout should end at this point." -The Berkshire Eagle
