"Middleweight champion Jake LaMotta scored a TKO over Chuck Hunter at 59 seconds of the 6th round tonight after administering a severe beating to the Cleveland fighter in a scheduled 10 round, non-title bout. Badly battered, Hunter had been felled for a five-count earlier in the round before referee Jackie Davis stopped the fight. Hunter started well, jabbing LaMotta at will in the first few rounds. LaMotta dazed Hunter in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds and drew blood in the 5th when he knocked Hunter's mouthpiece out. Hunter took a bad beating in both of the last two rounds." -Associated Press
