  • Date: 1971-01-18
  • Location: Spectrum, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
  • Referee: Pete Tomasco

"Ricardo Arredondo, Mexican junior lightweight, made his second successful visit to Philadelphia by scoring a 10th round knockout over local featherweight Augie Pantellas at the Spectrum. It was one of the most spectacular fights seen here in years. From the first round it was a brutal fight with the crowd cheering wildly from the opening bell as Pantellas, the underdog, fought savagely with the more experienced Mexican. Arredondo battered Augie in the 8th and 9th, but he survived the bombing and nailed Arredondo with a left hook that sent him to the canvas for a count of nine. Surviving the knockdown in the 9th Arredondo caught Pantellas with a hard right in the 10th. The punch staggered Pantellas and then the Mexican hit Augie with lefts, rights and uppercuts to the head until referee Pete Tomasco intervened." -Ring Magazine, April 1971 issue
