Swedish middleweight Bo Petterson, the crown prince who could succeed where his compatriot Bo Hogberg had failed, made an impressive win by knocking out the American Jack Gilbert of Knoxville. Gilbert ( 72 kg ) had a good record of 15- 5- 2 against Petterson's 16- 3- 0, but never troubled the hard hitting Swede. In the 3rd round Gilbert went forward with a with a left hook which Petterson countered with a short right hook. The American fell heavily to the canvas and was counted out.
