"In a second bout, Famoso Gomez clearly outpointed Rogelio Lara, but one of the officials gave it to Gomez, one to Lara and the third one called it a draw. Gomez, stabbing and crossing his foe with lefts and rights to face and body, kept out of the reach of Lara's counter-punching to win six of the first seven rounds. Lara came back strong in the last three but in the eyes of the majority of the fans, he had lost the fight by then." -United Press International
