"Willie Pastrano, 4th ranked heavyweight from Miami and New Orleans, tied up Chicago's Johnny Holman with lightning hooks and jabs Wednesday night to win a unanimous decision in a 10-round nationally televised bout. The hard-hitting Holman just couldn't land a big one. Pastrano was in and out with telling jabs that raised a welt over Holman's left eye. The eye was closed from the 8th round on. The 21 year old Pastrano, younger than Holman by eight years, kept his opponent off-balance with rapid fire lefts and rights while making sure he wasn't there when Holman let go with anything like a roundhouse. Holman always looked dangerous but couldn't catch up." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 8-0-2 Pastrano
