"Oscar Albarado's experience was obvious from the outset as his punches whipped through Muniz' defense in rounds 1, 2 and 3. The Texan threatened to end it in the 4th when a left hook took Muniz by surprise, lifting him practically off his feet. But he remained upright. Muniz turned the 5th and 6th into a rout, leaving no spot above Oscar's beltline untouched as Oscar hung on. The momentum turned again as Albarado blazed in the 7th, 8th and 9th. The final round was toe-to-toe slugging with Muniz getting the better of it. The match ended officially in a draw, but many ringsiders considered the verdict a gift for Muniz." -International Boxing, November 1971 issue
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 6-3 Albarado
