"Koichi Wajima of Japan Tuesday night regained his world junior middleweight championship by scoring an upset unanimous 15-round decision over defending champion Oscar Albarado of Los Angeles. There were no knockdowns in the toe-to-toe fight throughout the 15 rounds. Anticipating a Wajima victory, a partisan crowd of 9,000 at Nihon University Auditorium cheered lustily before the final round opened. Wajima bobbed and weaved from a low crouch which undoubtedly puzzled Albarado. The champion tried hard to score with overhand rights to the head but kept missing with Wajima dancing away to escape damage. Wajima surprised the crowd by being the aggressor from the opening gong in his unorthodox weaving and crouching tactic." -United Press International
