Veteran German middleweight Manfred Lessmann with 24 losses since his start in 1962, was sent to Norway to entertain the Oslo crowd against the tough and often mismatched Norwegian Thor Hognerud ( 5-4-0 ). Lessmann (70 kg ) started very slowly in this 6 rounder and the Norwegian Hognerud (74 kg ) quickly picked up a points lead which he held to the very end. When Lessmann increased his tempo, he missed most of his blows. It was an OK fight where the Oslo crowd saw their tough, hard luck home boy score a win.
