"Bobby Boyd was his usual sporadic self in whipping the 25 year old George Johnson from Trenton, N.J., in the Chicago Stadium Friday night. After dropping Johnson for an 8-count in the opening round, the 21 year old Chicagoan failed to follow through. By the 6th round Boyd found himself taking a 9-count. Johnson said he didn't remember a thing in the 8th round after Boyd dropped him the first of three times. The third time Johnson went sprawling into the ropes and referee Frank Sikora signaled the end with five seconds remaining in the round." -Associated Press
