Carter landed the same right hand that kayoed Snell in the opening round a year before, in the first round. Snell's eyes glazed from the punch, and his knees buckled. From then until midway in the 4th, Snell boxed cautiously. In the 4th, he hurt Carter with a right hand to the chin, as he gave Carter a bombardment over the remainder of the round. Carter became defensive over the remainder of the bout, with Snell giving the crowd a thrill in the 6th as he pounded Carter around the ring with both hands.
