In round three he received a lesser right brow cut from a butt. He retaliated with a butt, and received a warning. In round four, Gatti lost one point for hitting low, while winning the round. At this point, The ESPN announcers Teddy Atlas and Brian Kenny reported that this bout would be stopped in most venues, and they would argue over whether the butt-cut, or the blow-cut ended the bout. Gatti scored a knockdown with a right counter in round six. Hutchinson lost a point for a low blow in round eight.
