"Joe DeNucci, 19 year old Newton middleweight, kept a shoulder injury a secret last night and disabled veteran Ike Jenkins of N.Y., for a 3rd round TKO at the Boston Arena. DeNucci fractured Jenkins' jaw with an overhand right, a left hook and a series of rights in scoring a knockdown late in the 2nd round. After examining Jenkins at the end of the round, the ringside physician recommended the fight be stopped. Under Massachusetts rules, it goes into the records as a 3rd round TKO." -Associated Press
