Joey Lopes 132 lbs beat Paolo Rosi 135 lbs by TKO at 2:57 in round 6 of 10

"There are not many better lightweights around than Paolo Rosi, but the Italian scrapper has always had one big weakness - he cuts too easily. It happened again Tuesday night and enabled Joey Lopes of West Sacramento to score an upset 6th round TKO in their scheduled 10 round bout at Memorial Auditorium. Lopes floored Rosi with a chopping right for an eight count in the 2nd round and opened a cut over his left eye. In the 6th round, Rosi staggered Lopes with a roundhouse right to the ribs. But Lopes recovered and late in the same round swung a left hook that opened a gash under the right eye of Rosi. Referee Pete Morelli stopped the blood-spattered bout at 2:57 of the 6th stanza." -United Press International
