"After 10 rounds last night the two judges and referee awarded Nate Collins of San Francisco with a unanimous decision over Brazilian Juarez DeLima at the Oakland Auditorium. Nate leaped joyfully in the air, but his happiness must have been dampened a bit by the chorus of boos that rang out in the Auditorium. Bobbing, weaving, slipping inside then outside, DeLima, 159 1/2, rarely was hit by Collins' powerful right. It was the left jab that kept Nate in the fight. Offensively, DeLima didn't carry enough punching power, but his fast hands kept Collins, 159 1/2, off-balance. Only in the 10th round did Collins appear to have a decisive edge. He came out a determined aggressor and kept Delima backtracking most of the three minutes." -Oakland Tribune
- Unofficial Oakland Tribune scorecard - 5-3 DeLima
