• "One punch is all it took Jesus Pimental to successfully defend his North American bantamweight title Tuesday night at the Municipal Auditorium. That punch landed square on Cuervo Benitez' cheekbone, and brought a quick end to his hopes for an upset. The 2nd round started much the same as the 1st, but it became quickly evident that Pimental was in complete control and it was just a matter of time until he unloaded. When he did, it was with unexpected suddenness at 2:20 of the 2nd round. He caught Benitez on the ropes and exploded that right that crumpled the challenger. Benitez almost made it to his feet at the count of seven, but sagged back and was still sitting on the mat when referee Leonard Zuniga tolled 10, ending the fight." -San Antonio Express
