  • This was the second bout between Carnera and Uzcudun. The first one took place on November 30, 1930, with Carnera winning by a 10-round split decision.
  • On November 6, 1933, the International Boxing Union confirmed that the bout was for both the world title and Uzcudun's European title.
  • On December 3, 1934, the Spanish Boxing Federation stripped Uzcudun of the Spanish title for refusing to risk it against Isidoro Gastanaga.
  • There was a crowd of 70,000, which included Italian Prime Minister Benito Mussolini and James Roosevelt, son of American President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
  • The Associated Press reported that Carnera gave Uzcudun "an unmerciful beating" and won every round.
  • Uzcudun unranked by the National Boxing Association as of September 1933, promoted to No. 10 in December.
