- The Michigan fight crowd booed Hitz when he was introduced as "The Hitman" because the nickname was the same as Detroit's favorite fighter, Thomas "Hitman" Hearns.
- Hitz circled left and right while Foreman patiently stalked.
- One of the TV commentators said, "It looks like a man (Foreman) against a boy (Hitz)."
- Foreman cornered Hitz late in round one and dropped him with a right. Hitz hit the canvas face first. He attempted to get up but did not beat the referee's count.
- Foreman's purse for the fight was $55,000.
- Archie Moore and Charlie Shipes worked Foreman's corner.
- Bobby Hitz later became a well-known boxing promoter in the Chicago area.
