Robert Villemain 167 lbs beat Danny Nardico 172 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

"Danny Nardico forced the fighting in every round and landed some good punches at long range to body and head in the 1st, 2nd, 7th and 8th sessions. But the rugged Robert Villemain's bobbing and weaving tactics and his 'ear-lap' defense of forearms and gloves made young Danny miss many more punches than he landed in the other rounds. Meanwhile, the short-armed Frenchman was jumping in with left hooks and straight rights, and then beating Danny at close quarters. In the last minute of the 10th round Villemain rocked the tiring Nardico twice with straight rights and ripped a gash under his right eye with a left hook." -United Press

  • Unofficial UP scorecard - 6-4 Villemain

  • The original decision was a majority decision in favor of Villemain. An hour after the decision was rendered NYSAC chairman Robert Christenberry changed Judge Jimmy Crowley's scorecard from 5-5 to 6-5 in favor of Villemain due to the fact that Crowley had neglected to give Villemain a mandatory one point for the 3rd round, in which Nardico lost on a foul for two low blows. Thus the decision was unanimous in favor of Villemain.
