"Unranked Paolo Rosi chased 3rd ranked Johnny Gonsalves in every round tonight and landed whenever possible for a split 10 round decision at MSG. A vote for Gonsalves by judge Jack Gordon amazed the 2,200 fans and brought a round of booing. Rosi rocked his light-hitting but elusive opponent with hard lefts and rights in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th and 10th. Johnny ran and held and spun his man, but rarely elected to do more than dab at him with left jabs. Now and then he would risk throwing a right and on three or four occasions, he actually exchanged, but each time was brought up sharply with a left hook to the face." -United Press
