- Although Dodson beats the count, he remains in serious trouble. He resorts to holding excessively and refusing the break on the referee's command. In one specific instance, Dodson holds Bonnamie against the ropes and leans into him for a good 15 seconds, refusing to let go. When the referee finally separates the fighters, Bonnamie points to his right side and shows the referee a clear and serious bite mark.
- After looking at the bite mark, the referee disqualifies Dodson with about 30 seconds to go in round 12.
