"Jose (Toluco) Lopez scored a clean 8th round knockout over Oney Mingus Saturday night in the Nuevo Laredo bullring before a huge crowd estimated at 5,200. Toluco, who has an October 12th encounter with Joe Medel in Mexico City for the national bantamweight title, lashed at Mingus unmercifully throughout the fight. He finally climaxed his brilliant performance with a crashing left hook to Mingus' head and followed it with a hard right to the jaw to drop Mingus for the 10 count.
