"Arturo Lomeli of Guadalajara won a unanimous 12 round decision from Ruben Navarro of East L.A. in a world lightweight title elimination fight. Navarro made a strong start and jarred Lomeli with solid rights in the 1st and 2nd rounds, but Lomeli knocked Navarro's mouthpiece out of his mouth with a solid right in the 5th. Navarro almost went down but was spared a knockdown when time was called to get the mouthpiece washed and replaced. Lomeli punished Navarro severely after that and sent him stumbling to the canvas for a clean knockdown in the 6th. Navarro took a beating, then rallied only to get in trouble again at the finish." -Pasadena Independent
