  • Location: Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles, California, USA
  • Referee: Lee Grossman

"Ruben Navarro, the No. 1 rated junior lightweight from East Los Angeles, knocked out Chico Andrade from Hermosillo, Mexico, in 1:34 of the 3rd round of their scheduled 10 round main event. Navarro, shooting for a title fight with junior lightweight king Rene Barrientos, had a decided reach advantage and was much quicker than the tough, little Andrade. Navarro forced the action from the start but gained only slight margins in the first two rounds. But at the start of the 3rd round he began unlimbering his heavier punches." -The L.A. Times
