- According to the May 10, 1926 edition of the Ottawa Citizen, "the main event hadn't reached half-way in the second round when Henning, coming off the ropes, ran foul of a sizzling right uppercut from Fontaine and went down. Referee Lou Marsh began the count and reached eight, when the Toronto bricklayer regained his feet only to go down again from a right jolt to the jaw".
- Although Henning beat the count after the second knockdown, the referee decided that he was in no shape to continue and called a halt to the bout.
