- Yarde showed resilience and power, landing some clean shots, but could not consistently hurt or slow down Benavidez.
- In Round 7, Benavidez dropped Yarde with a flurry of punches. After a brief continuation, the referee stopped the fight to protect Yarde from further damage.
- Benavidez was also penalized a point for landing on Yarde while he was down, but it did not change the outcome.

- Benavidez remains undefeated, boosting his standing as one of the most dominant fighters in the light-heavyweight division.
- After the fight, Benavidez announced plans to move up to cruiserweight to pursue a fight with Gilberto Ramirez on the weekend of Cinco de Mayo.
