"Raymundo (Battling) Torres from Reynosa, Mexico, took a 10 round split decision Tuesday night from Paul Jorgensen, Port Arthur, Texas, before a Sam Houston Coliseum crowd of 7,000. In his first Houston appearance, Torres ran his record to 34-2 by outpointing the Texan strongly in the final two rounds. There was nothing close to a knockdown although Jorgensen received three sharp jolts in the 10th round." -Associated Press
