"Eddie Perkins of Chicago handed welterweight Clyde Gray of Toronto his first loss Monday night in a 10 round bout on the Aragon Ballroom fight card. Perkins, weighing 145 pounds to Gray's 144, never was in trouble against the Canadian and had Gray scrambling most of the way. Going into the bout Gray had won 21 fights without a loss and had 13 knockouts, but he failed to tag Perkins throughout the match." -United Press International
