"Eddie Perkins of Chicago won a unanimous 10 round decision over Gene Gresham of Detroit. Perkins hooked and jabbed lefts at his rangy opponent with monotonous regularity in pounding out the decision. Through the first five rounds, the two were on about even terms, mainly because Perkins failed to get under on the inside and fought Gresham's fight. But starting with the 6th, Perkins was the aggressor, landing rocking rights and nailing Gresham with short hooking shots as he came in. The best flurry came in the 9th, when Gresham was forced to back up after several rights, one of which opened a cut in his lip. There were no knockdowns." -Associated Press
