"Buddy Baer, Livermore, Calif., floored Lee Savold, 188 pound Des Moines heavyweight, in the 1st round of their scheduled eight round bout here last night and went on to take a newspaper decision. Savold, at a distinct disadvantage because of Baer's 224 pounds and superior height and reach, went down for a count of eight from a right uppercut to the jaw.
