"Sixth-ranked middleweight Sugar Ray Seales won a unanimous decision over a scrappy Johnny Rico, the Arizona welterweight champion, in a 10-round bout here Friday night. Rico suffered a deep cut over his right eye in the 2nd round and the fight was stopped for 30 seconds to let a doctor check it. When the fight resumed, Rico came back wildly, but Seales kept jabbing and sometimes used a quick combination. Seales went wild in the 4th but lost any chance of knocking out Rico by wearing himself out. Rico's best rounds were the 7th and 9th but won only one round on all of the judges' cards." -Associated Press
